The Federal Court reviews decisions of all federal boards, commissions or other tribunals, and hears cases where federal legislation provides for the right of appeal or review in the Court. The Court also hears cases where relief is claimed against the Crown. It is made up of Appeal and Trial Divisions, and administers both the common law and civil law legal systems. The Court hears both criminal and civil cases.
The Federal Court is based in Ottawa, Ontario, but its judges travel across Canada from time to time to hear cases.
